2009 Dancer Couple Scroll of Honour

Mary & Norman Cox

Mary & Norm Cox were presented with their Scroll of Honour Award
at the International Gala, February 20, 2010
by Committee Chairs, Janet & Roy Ballam

Norm & Mary Cox been involved in the Square Dance movement for more than 34 years.   To say that they are “active dancers” would be a gross understatement as you will find them moving their feet most nights of the week – and some afternoons too.   If they are not dancing locally you will find them at a Convention, Festival or a special dance somewhere.   If the motor home can’t get them there, they will find some other mode of transportation.

These two will always be found with “rolled-up sleeves” whether it is laying or taking up floors, or revising manuals or papers.    Not only will you find them promoting, collecting, selling and working up front, you will find them behind the scenes, setting up, running, organizing and cleaning up.  For Abbotsford’s Festival 2005 you found them at dances and events on the mainland and on the Island, promoting and selling Festival clothing as well as urging dancers to sign up to attend.

Some of the clubs who have seen them as valuable members include, Happy Hearts (in Delta), Buttons & Bows, Silver Saddles, Stardowners, Surrey Square Wheelers, Abbotsford Swinging Hubs, Chuckwagon 8’s, Motivators.

In recent time, you have found Norm and Mary active in the Othello Tunnels week-end.  They have been Directors, then Vice President, then President, and Past President of the Fraser Valley Association, members of the Promotion Committee and currently he is a Vice President of the B.C. Square and Round Dance Federation.

These folks are just”perpetual motion” in our Square Dancing world.
