Brendzy, Caitlyn![]() | Caitlyn has been square dancing for as long as she can remember. She joined a youth club when she was five, and has been dancing ever since! Caitlyn has been very involved in the Pacific Northwest Teen Square Dance Festival, and she has been a competitor as well as an instructor for the club. She has successfully competed in square dancing, calling, cueing, and round dancing. Caitlyn has won many awards for her efforts, and she has used the skills she has gained to help her promote square and round dancing in her community. Caitlyn has graduated from university with a degree in Early Childhood Education, and she is currently working and volunteering in this field. She cues for four square dance clubs, and is the co-instructor for the Circle 8s Square Dance Club of Burnaby. Caitlyn enjoys calling with her family, and she can frequently be found performing singing calls with her dad and brother. She enjoys traveling the world with her family, and is always willing to offer her assistance to dancers who are trying to improve their technique. |
Brendzy, Nicholas![]() | Nicholas is no stranger to square dancing. He called his first singing call at age three on an Alaskan cruise, much to everyone’s surprise, and has continued to call ever since! Over the years, Nicholas attended the Pacific Northwest Teen Square Dance festival where he successfully competed in square dancing, calling, cueing and round dancing. Nicholas has won many awards for his abilities, and he continues to be an active promoter of the square dance movement. Nicholas has a degree in History and Archeology, is currently working on a master program in academic leadership. He is a teacher and is currently working with a grade five and six class in Burnaby. Nicholas enjoys his choice of careers, which greatly helps him when teaching dance. He currently calls and cues two nights per week for the Circle 8s Square Dance Club of Burnaby. He enjoys sharing the stage with his sister and father, and together they make a family trio, which is amazing to hear. Square and round dancing has allowed Nicholas to travel all over the continent and share the stage with his family. He is taking on a leadership role in the square dance movement, and with his girlfriend Alexandra, is working hard to increase the number of dancers in his area and keep this wonderful activity alive. Nicholas is proud to be a recording artist for Rawhide Records. |
Brendzy, Ray![]() | Ray was born and raised in Vancouver, BC. He has been dancing for 60 years and calling for 58 years. He is married to Christine and they have two children, Nicholas (28) and Caitlyn (25). Ray was a teacher and administrator with the Vancouver School Board for 37 years. Christine was also a teacher for 37 years, and Nicholas and Caitlyn, are both teachers and they call and cue as well. The Brendzys are truly a Square Dance family and are great ambassadors for our activity. Ray currently calls for five clubs, and Nicholas and Caitlyn call and cue for two clubs. They often travel as a family to dance events and enjoy sharing the stage and presenting some great harmony. Ray calls from beginners to C3B and he has traveled throughout Canada and the United States. He has also called in Japan, England, and Sweden. |
Cave, Bill![]() | Bill has been calling for 7 years with The Williams Lake Stampede Whirlaways where he shares calling duties under the direction of Nick Turner. He has previously called at the Cloverdale and Salmon Arm Festivals. Bill and his wife Jan live in Kersley, BC and love to dance and enjoy the fellowship of the square and round dance community. |
Dean, Gary & Skead, Julie![]() | Gary hails from Prince George, BC where he began square dancing in 1973 with his late wife Barb. Gary fell in love with round dancing and was eager to teach others. He attended a Round-a Lab Teachers College in 2002 and has been cueing and teaching ever since. He has cued and taught at many Nationals and BC Festivals. Currently Gary is the cuer for the Prince George Northern Twisters square dance club. Julie also hails from Prince George where she started square dancing in 2011. She got the round dance bug in 2017 after attending Gary and Barb’s dance classes. She has travelled throughout Canada and the United States to dance and to expand her knowledge. |

Edlund, Steve![]() | Steve enjoyed calling for the Wesburn Wranglers for 18 years, as well Lochdale and Silver Saddles Square Dance Clubs. Presently Steve is calling for the Royal City Dancers (as he has since 1982) as well as the Surrey Square Wheelers, Swinging Hubs and the Abbotsford Grand Squares. Steve’s program involves SSD through to A2. Square dancing has had the opportunity to travel and call extensively throughout North America, Sweden, Japan and Germany. Currently, Steve is calling on Riverboat Records out of California. Steve and Lynnette have been married since 1987, and live in Surrey, BC. After 42 years with Coast Mountain Bus Company Steve retired in 2024 and is presently working as a consultant with Stantec Engineering on their transit and rail related projects. Outside of square dancing, Steve and Lynnette lead an active life biking, kayaking, golfing, and traveling. |
Ellis, Alan![]() | Alan has been involved with Square Dancing for over 20 years. In 2013 Alan was approached by international caller Ken Bower to learn to become a square dance caller. He attended his first caller school that same year in Oklahoma City. Over the years he attended more caller classes both in the US and Canada. Alan has called at many Clubs, Campouts, Provincial Conventions and Festivals. Alan has also called for weddings, church groups, and clubs. He holds a numbers of positions with the Edmonton and District Callers and Instructors Association (EDCIA), Community Dance Capital District Association (CDCDA) and the Alberta Square and Round Dance Federation (ASRDF). In 2023 Alan was asked to start a club in Spruce Grove, Alberta. With the help of the Agricultural Society he has be instrumental in reintroduce square dancing to the community. |
Harry, Dave![]() | Dave has been calling since age 13. He teaches square dancing in the schools around the Seattle area & for the Whirlybirds in Lynnwood, & Skagit Squares of Mount Vernon. He & his wife Bonnie are widely known for their dance shop, Petticoat Junction, for occasional live music performances, & monthly no-experience dances - the First Friday Funfest in Lynnwood. He is a Callerlab member & has his 50-yr recognition certificate. Dave has a never ending passion for square dancing! |

Hutchinson, Dave![]() | I first started dancing when I was just 6 years old. My parents were big into dancing so my brother and I had an early intro. I called my first singing call at 7 years old. I started calling earnestly in 1977 under the tutelage of John Park and started my first club the following year. It grew into an all-level club with an average of 12-15 squares attending each night. It was the heyday of dancing. Now I call for 4 clubs, averaging 5 nights per week from basics up to C2. Calling is my life and I believe we must keep the "Fun" in Square Dancing. |
Illsley, Laurie![]() | Laurie Illsley along with his wife Wilma live in the Annapolis Valley of Nova Scotia in Lawrencetown. I have been calling for over 25 years and I am currently club caller for the South Shore Squares.I am also involved with our local callers association and also the Canadian Square Dance Society. |
Kreuger, Wendy![]() | Wendy started calling and cueing in 2011/2012 in the Fraser Valley of B.C. Valley Promenaders Square and Round Dance Club in Aldergrove is her caller run club. She also calls for Century House Squares in New Westminster and taught lessons for Rainbow Squares in 2024/25. Wendy enjoys calling, cueing, and teaching at festivals in Canada and in the USA. Wendy is co-chair of BC Festival 2025 and also of the 2026 National Festival to be held in Penticton next July. |
Lemoine, Dan![]() | I call beginner square dances to plus dances, as well as round dances. I enjoy Calling with a variety of music however I do prefer country music. I love calling because it’s a great way to bring people and the community together while having a great time! I started calling when I was 21 and called for 9 years before I took a break to raise my family. I started back in my living room when my girls wanted to learn how to square dance. The club was comprised of family and close friends. I currently call for 2 clubs, the Country and Western Square Dance Club in Edmonton and the Lacombe Belles and Beaux in Lacombe Alberta. I was on the committee for the national Square Dance convention of 2024. And am on the committee for the 2025 Alberta festival as well. Marcotte, Joe![]() | Joe is a lively Mainstream caller with a good sense of humour. He loves classic rock music and strives to bring vibrant energy to his tips. Joe is a new caller with only two years experience. He started calling on a Goofer’s night and continues to call in guest spots with his club. Joe attended training in Salmon Arm lead by Gary Winter and Steve Edlund. He also travelled to Williams Lake for a Callers Workshop facilitated by Nick Turner and Lyle O’Hara. Joe’s mentors are Allan Peterson and Nelson Reeme of the Vernon club, Star Country Squares. |
Mawdsley, Brent![]() | Brent and his wife, Therese, are from Vancouver, BC, Canada. Since 1988, Brent has called and cued two to four nights per week, and currently calls for three clubs, one of them for over 36 years. Brent has been the featured caller for dance weekends and special events throughout BC & the Western US and regularly entertains community groups with introductions to modern square dancing. He is a Riverboat Square Dance Music staff caller and has made over 38 recordings. When he's not calling, Brent works full time as Business Development Manager for Activation Laboratories, a global mineral testing company. |
Meyer, Sandy![]() | Sandy Meyer has been Square & Round dancing for 25 years, & cueing for 16 years. She has cued at various Festivals & ‘Party Nights’ in BC. She has been the featured cuer at ‘Chase the Fun’ weekend since 2015. Sandy does ‘yodel’ singing calls & plays percussion in the ‘World Famous Kamloops Rube Band’. Sandy & husband Merv presently call, cue & teach Round & Square dancing in Kamloops for ‘Thompson Valley Stars’. They both choreograph many of their own Round dances. In 1982 while at my second posting (Edson, Alberta) I was introduced to Square / Round Dancing at a local club and the journey began. Decades later having moved to South Surrey, I joined the Surrey Square Wheelers and with the encouragement of Steve Edlund and other, began Calling with our club as well as for demo’s. Noseck, Steve![]() | My calling career began in 1979 with a calling class from Bob Wright Sr. I became the caller for the Mavericks and the Issaquah’s and Braves. Having been a club caller for clubs in Central Puget Sound Council and Mount Baker Council, I have also been the featured caller at over (20) Council Dances over the years. Calling has taken me to 10 states and 13 cruises the most recent 2024 “Track 2 to Banff” I am now the Club teacher for the Fidalgo Fogcutters Plus Club. Lessons are in Sedro-Woolley, WA and runs from October to May. I also call for the A/C regroup an Advanced and Challenge Club, Federated and the only one in WA State. I record on Riverboat records, as well as I am a Co-Producer of EDGE Productions. We have 34 recordings. Square Dance Chairman for booking all Callers for the 2021 WA State Festival, as well as the future 2026 WA State Festival. I have been a member of Callerlab for over 40 years and am the 2021 WA State Almon F. Parker Inspirational Award recipient. I have 3 children: Christopher Stefanie and Scott. I am now retired from work and reside in Sedro-Woolley, WA with my wife Leslie, my absolute love with Bella, our dog. |

Ritchie, Connie![]() | Connie started dancing in 1981 in Anchorage, Alaska. In 1985 Connie moved back home to Victoria, BC. Five years later, she started teaching round dancing in Victoria, and formed the “Rainbow Rounders”. Currently, Connie is the Round Dance Coordinator for the BC Square and Round Dance Federation. She is also Treasurer for the Victoria & District Caller Teachers Association and Treasurer and Round Dance Chair for the Upper Vancouver Island Caller Teachers Association. Salter, Cheryl![]() | I started dancing with Town ‘N' Country Dancers in Maple Ridge BC in 1986, and have been with the club ever since. I became the club cuer in 1988. I have participated in many Canadian conventions and BC festivals. I handled registrations for Convention 2000 and Festival 2005, and was treasurer for Festival 2017. I have held several positions on the Vancouver and District Caller Teachers Association executive, including my current role as treasurer. I had the privilege and honour of receiving the Scroll of Honour in 2008. |

Symington, David![]() | Been the caller for Rockyview Ramblers since 2009,I also became the caller for the Wild Rose Squares in Cochrane as of 2025 due to Joe Uebelacker illness and unfortunately passing away. I call Basic, Mainstream, Plus and cue up to phase two Rounds. I have attended 5 callers school to enhance my calling/teaching technics. Started dancing in 1971 in Edmonton. I have called at numerous conventions and been co programmer for 4 of them. I have called in Olds, Nanton, Red Deer, Rocky Mountain House. I am still doing guest calling at those clubs except Nanton as they folded up. I am also the back up caller for all the clubs in the Area. I belong to the Calgary, Central, and the Alberta Callers Association. For all the work we have done for square dancing community, in 2015 we received the Alberta Rose Award. |
Thurston, Mary![]() | I first started square dancing in 2016 and immediately fell in love with the activity. So much so that after starting in January I was dancing at a C1 level by September of the same year. I have never looked back and enjoy being on the floor dancing at any level from basics upwards. Last year I decided it was time to try my hand at calling. I attended my first callers' school in April and now call 3 times a week doing a tip in my partner's clubs. I call regularly from Basics to Plus and thoroughly enjoy my time on the mic. I hope people enjoy my calling as much as I enjoy calling for them. |
