Katie has been an active member with the Clover Valley Girl Guides for the past 10 years. She is scheduled to receive her Canada Cord award this spring. This is the highest award that a Pathfinder can earn. As part of her Canada Cord requirements she has taken the initiative to plan and run a square dance lesson for younger members within our district. Katie has also arranged to make care packages for youth at a local mental health centre. Katie is one of the 20 members selected to go on the Fraser Skies Area France, Italy, Switzerland and Spain (FISS 2020) European trip. In January 2018 Katie was awarded the most inspirational dancer in her school dance class.

On behalf of the Driscoll Committee, we would like to present Katie McCormack with the Driscoll Award. Congratulations Katie!

Michael is always willing to support the new dancers at the club. Michael shows support by dancing as an angel and encouraging the more shy dancers to keep trying. In rounds, Michael will dance with younger dancers and support the cuer by showing the class the new moves they are learning.

With his peers, Michael is respected for his calm manner. In competition squares Michael is a strong leader and his fellow dancers' listens, as he gives confidence needed to be successful in the square.

Michael is always helping out with jobs around the club. Michael participates in demonstrations and fundraising activities. He also enjoys spending time with the club at social gatherings, helping the members connect and become a stronger team.

Michael tried calling and cueing when he was a Preteen but decided that square and round dancing were more for him. Michael was Senior Square Champion, Intermediate Square Champion, Intermediate Rounds Champion, and Pre-teen Cuer Champion.

When Michael was asked to play football at the provincial level and it interfered with the Pacific Northwest Teen Square Dance Festival, he worked out a schedule to ensure that he didn't let either of his teams down. Michael is a true team player. As a football player and captain, he has demonstrated communication and collaboration skills necessary to lead a team to success.

Michael works during school breaks and plays Varsity football as well as sustaining Honour Roll Grades at school.

Michael has volunteered at: the Cloverdale Rodeo, BC Lions Football games, and school fundraising.

Michael will be attending McMaster University in the fall of 2018 on a Football Scholarship and plans to promote his love of square dancing at the university in Ontario.
