Fred started Square Dancing in 1976 with the Promenade Pals. Since then he has been a member and danced with the following Clubs: Chuckwagon 8`s; C Squares; Swinging Singles; Stardowners; Abbotsford Swinging Hubs; Fraser Valley Strollers; Motiv8tors; Silver Saddles; Rhythm B's; Spinners; Quick Steppers.

He has served on the Executives of several of the above mentioned dubs in the positions of Club Rep.; Secretary; Treasurer; Vice President and President.

From 1988 - 1989 he was Treasurer of the FVS&RDA.

As Chairman of Business & Administration Committee for the 1990 National Convention, he was responsible for several sub committees including the Souvenir Program, Booth Rentals, Contracts, Ways & Means and Treasurer which entailed many meetings over a 4 year period prior to the very successful Convention at which some 7,000 dancers attended.

Fred was Assistant Treasurer for the 2000 National Convention which attracted 3,500 dancers. In 2007 - 2008 Fred served a second term as Treasurer of the FVS&RDA.

Fred also worked as a volunteer for the B.C. Square dance Festivals in Vancouver and Abbotsford.

He has attended the Canadian National Conventions in Winnipeg, Vancouver. Halifax, Edmonton, Ottawa; B.C. Festivals in Prince George, Duncan, Salmon Arm and Abbotsford and several Washington State and U.S. Nationals.
